Description

This course aims to expand students' knowledge of materials failure so that they can assess the integrity of cracked engineering components. Behaviour of cracked components in elastic and elastic-plastic regimes will be examined and experimental and numerical methods to obtain fracture parameters are explained. The course, which includes the conventional methods of structural integrity assessments, will be accompanied by an introduction to the recent developments in the field.
